{"id":1138,"date":"2018-04-17T19:21:10","date_gmt":"2018-04-17T19:21:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wright-macdonald.com\/blog\/?p=1138"},"modified":"2018-04-24T04:05:48","modified_gmt":"2018-04-24T04:05:48","slug":"april-17-interlude-flowers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wright-macdonald.com\/blog\/april-17-interlude-flowers\/","title":{"rendered":"April 17, Interlude: Flowers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although Ted has\u00a0 a flower bed in one of the raised beds in the front yard, and we have native plants that flower in fairly unshowy ways in the terrace beds adjoining the staircase up to our house pad (37 steps), we also have geraniums lining the staircase, <a href=\"http:\/\/covercrop.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vetch<\/a> covering most of the orchard by the street, and wildflowers in the upper, wild part of the yard.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wright-macdonald.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/flower-bed.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1137 size-medium\" title=\"roses, Itoh Peonies, and Peruvian lilies\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wright-macdonald.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/flower-bed-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wright-macdonald.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/flower-bed-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wright-macdonald.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/flower-bed-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.wright-macdonald.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/flower-bed-700x525.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.wright-macdonald.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/flower-bed.jpg 1440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 The flowers in the vase include Peruvian lilies, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidaustinroses.com\/us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Austin<\/a> roses, and an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gardeningknowhow.com\/ornamental\/flowers\/peony\/growing-hybrid-itoh-peonies.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Itoh Peony<\/a>. Last but not least, is our field of California poppies, all started from one wildflower seed, several years ago. Click the photos to see bigger ones, especially of the multiple lupines and the poppy field.\u00a0 At the back of the poppy field, you can see lavender in bloom and behind that the mountain across the
